WANT TO HELP?

We are always looking for volunteers to help at our events. This includes registration and corner workers for our ice racing events. If you are interested in volunteering, come to one of our monthly meetings to find out more information and let us know you’d like to help out.

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION

For those of you who are unfamiliar, here are a few pertinent details:

  • Yes, there is real road racing in Alaska!
  • There will be both wheel-to-wheel road racing and single car time trials at this event.
  • Wheel-to-wheel cars must be actual caged race cars and pass a rigorous tech inspection. Driver gear (racing suit, helmet) is also inspected at this time.
  • Wheel to wheel classes include Improved Touring, GTU, GTO, GTX, and Legends.
  • Time trial cars can be regular street cars, as long as they are in good working order. Drivers must wear helmets and long pants/sleeves, but no special safety equipment is required.
  • No experience is necessary to drive in this event—coaching is available for both time trial and wheel-to-wheel drivers.
  • Free camping is available on-site and other, more luxurious, forms of lodging are available in Tok (about 10 miles away).
  • Feasting and other forms of merry making are encouraged, but not necessarily required. This is a family-friendly environment and not an all out party—BYOB and something for the Saturday potluck dinner.
  • While we would like to see everyone compete, we do also need volunteers to work the track. If you are a spectator, a corner station is definitely the best seat in the house from which to watch the races.
  • Volunteers will also be eligible to go on ride-alongs in either time trial cars or wheel-to-wheel cars (with proper safety gear).
  • Pre-race tech inspection for wheel-to-wheel cars will be held at a local shop. Location, date, and time TBA–watch our website and this thread for details. Please plan to attend this tech inspection or be prepared to pay an additional fee of $50 for inspection at Tanacross.

Don't build a race car without first checking with the club for rules, regulations and advice.

BUMP

Registration on the site is still up - this really helps out the folks planning the event and cuts down on registration times at the event. Even if you are paying with cash/check go ahead and fill out the form online!

Registered and ready to go. Just need to finish packing, pick up tow dolly and be on my way.

Sounds like there might be a lot of people showing up. Hopefully it holds true and this'll be another of those Tanacrosses to remember.

Well I feel accomplished in the few photos I did manage to get, no thanks to Shaggie having passed on whatever he had to me (thus spending most of the weekend in the RV hacking up crud).

Was awesome seeing so many new folks out there, and as always enjoying the good times to be had.

W00t! Was another blast of a weekend, no wheel to wheel this time, which meant for mega seat time for us Time Trialers. The Corrado ran great, still got a little warm when letting her sit idling in grid, but overall did fairly well. Will definitely need new tires next season. as after 3.5 Tanacross', these tires have bit the dust.

Was good to see all the newbies come up there and have a go at it. ALL improved greatly throughout the weekend, some by shaving 20 some odd seconds from their lap times. Consensus seems that all will try to return in the spring. Was also good to see the veteran Auto-x/time trial drivers share their vehicles to compare times, sometimes bettering the owners time. Damion seemed to eek out a 1.26 on Sunday IIRC, driving a Subaru. Mike Rewis took overall times for both days, but Damion, todd and will were right there behind him.

Thanks to all that made the trek up to give it a try, and who helped volunteer at the corners, or had family/friends volunteer to make it a successful weekend. Hopefully those "Tanacross Virgins" will indeed be hooked and return.

It was quite hilarious to see Shag and TeeCea cram into Nathan's Lotus elise, HAhahaha...

Anyway, managed to upload only a couple videos thus far. This one was my fastest of the weekend. Not exactly fast compared to Mike, Damion and the Will's.

And this one was kinda cool I thought. I actually was moving the GoPro around just to get different view points this time around.
