Moving back to AK

Introduce yourself. We may even say hi.

Moving back to AK

Postby ScrewedGT500 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 9:39 am

After being absent for several years I have decided to move back this summer, bringing 4 fun summertime toys with me as well. A 2012 Shelby GT500 sporting a whipple 2.9L crusher @21psi 739/729 to the tires on 93 pump. A 2003 GT mustang vert currently undergoing complete overhaul with a new engine about to be dropped in before I move. A 2003 Harley Davidson F-150 supercrew, and a 2002 Lightning. Buying 2 new 20ft enclosed car trailers to haul the two cars and tow them with the 2 trucks. Trying to sell one of trailers as I wont need two after the move is complete so if you might be interested in a enclosed car trailer this summer let me know. Question, what is everyone doing for premium fuel as I think 90 is the best pump option availible? All my vehicles are tuned for 93 octane and when I had my GT vert with a procharger in Alaska 5 years ago I was having to do the can of torco plus the 90 octane pump fuel every fill up. Also what are the current best options for race fuel? Anyone carrying Shell URT advanced? or VP C-16? Thanks.

Hey Kyle, glad to see you were able to sign in alright. You never know with me setting up accounts... hahaha.

Where are you moving from? We are also moving back to ANC at the end of May. Let me know when you are ready to sell a trailer... my brother may be interested in one. Sounds like you got quite the stable... can't wait to see them out.

Not much choice for street fuel. I just detuned to run 90 anymore because I got tired of adding Toco to every tank. No one carries URT that I know of. Last time I bought C-16 it was from Hale.

Welcome back, and nice stable.

Also, another option some choose for fueling on higher octane tunes is to run a meth/water setup.

underground might have some race fuel on hand but most are using the methanol/ water injection to get the low octane knock away. i and a few other are finding that a 80/20 meth/water works wonders but you have to spray 40-50% of your fuel flow and dial in the right afr because of all the alky.

Looks like you'll have to go back to the torco mix. I hate doing it as well but it is what it is. Also, Shell URT advanced is only produced in the summer and shut down during the winter. From what I read its the SHIT and better than C-16. I talked to Shell on muldoon and they mentioned of potentially carrying it.

Nice Gt500! what does she makes on race gas and any 1/4 miles times?

Best time to date was 11.4@129 but that was with around 660 rwhp and leaving off idle with a crappy 1.9 60ft. I have not ran it with my new mods or race fuel but hope to this summer out in Palmer. Have a nice set of Nitto NT05R drag radials, just need to swap stronger lower control arms in to get the wheel hop under control, These damn GT500's are hard to launch in stock suspension form but as she sits right now once she hooks she pulls like a damn freight train, it's almost kind of scary. I was rolling down the interstate at about 80mph and stabbed it in 3rd gear with the stock tires on and I damn near put it into the center wall as the ass end was trying to come around. Have to roll into the throttle and not slam it!

Yes the GT500 is the fastest right now, I'm not sure it will be when I finish the motor install in my GT, after the initial engine break in I plan on force feeding the ported 03 cobra blower with two 62mm turbos and running 30+ psi of manifold pressure, but this will be a race fuel only setup once the turbos go on and running the compound boost setup. Shooting to break the 1000rwhp mark with a 2v.

Nice! How much does your GT weight and when you expecting it to have it all said and done?

I'm guessing it will be somewhere around 3500lbs, has a full tubular road race front suspension . I'll have to weight it again once everything is in, this car is not setup for drag , just a fun street machine with full creature comforts, no weight reduction at all. Turbos will be going on this winter and should be completely done by next summer.

Sounds like alot fun even though your a year or more out from completion! So in meantime looks like the Gt500 gets most of the seat time! So when does she show up in AK?

IF a little birdy was correct, there may be some rigs up and running by next season that would be a good match-up for you.
